Anglo-Saxon form of the first name Mélodie, from the Greek Melodia song, his harmonious. Melody is also considered a derivative of the name Odile, of the Germanic odal, meaning heritage, wealth. Melody is best known with Melody Nelson, a character invented by Serge Gainsbourg for his album Melody Nelson's Story sung with Jane Birkin in 1971.His party : December 14 with Odile. Saint Odile, daughter of a Count of Alsace, was born blind and recovered her sight at her baptism. She founded the Hohenburg Monastery in her father's castle and welcomed the lepers and the blind, some of whom were healed thanks to her.
